2015 Land Rover Updates

With 2014 drawing to a close, Land Rover Austin in Austin, Texas has decided that it’s time to clue our fans in on what they can look forward to in the coming new year.blue

The biggest news of course is the introduction of the all-new Discovery Sport which goes on sale in early 2015.  This sporty and well appointed SUV is available exclusively with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that dishes out 240 horses and is paired with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle will also feature a unique 5+2 seating arrangement to accommodate larger families.

Next up is the Range Rover Evoque which will adopt some new electronic driver aids. The Evoque will now be equipped with Reverse Traffic Detection along with the Blind Spot Monitor option, and Perpendicular Park assist for vehicles with the Advanced Park Assist option.

The LR4, which is set to be renamed the Discovery for its next generation, gets Jaguar Land Rover’s latest InControl apps and smartphone system for 2015. The system brings the familiarity of compatible smartphone apps into the vehicle, with access from a connected phone through the standard touchscreen. The 2015 LR4 will also include side steps as a standard feature. blue 2

The always enchanting high-performance Range Rover Sport SVR is also on the list for the new year.  This incredible machine marks the first performance vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover’s new SVO division and is promised to be one of the fastest SUVs on the market.  Its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 delivers an astonishing 550 horsepower, which will launch it from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds.

Last but not least we have the ever-so-popular Range Rover. The only change for 2015 will be the availability of the HSE trim on the Range Rover Long-Wheelbase variant that was introduced this year.  Before it was only available on the Supercharged and Autobiography trims

Land Rover Austin assures you that you will be thoroughly impressed with all of the features that flourish both inside and out of these truly remarkable vehicles, so stop by today to take a test climb in whichever Land Rover tickles your fancy.

Evoque Diesel Could Head to The U.S.

Could the rumors be true?  Are the head honchos over at Land Rover USA mulling over whether or not to begin shipping the diesel-powered Range Rover Evoque over to the States?   Well we can only sit and wait and wish for now.evoque 2

Currently the affordable compact crossover is only sold here with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, but all that could change in the future. The Evoque is also sold in other parts of the world with a 2.2-liter diesel engine, but that won’t reach the U.S. because of emissions regulations.

Jaguar Land Rover has announced a multi-million engine manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom with volume production at the facility beginning early next year, starting with a 2.0-liter diesel.  After that, the plant will start building turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder engines in time to launch the new Jaguar XE sedan in the U.S.  The first copies of the XE being sold in this market will be gasoline powered, but Jaguar plans to follow up with a diesel model roughly two months after that.

“Nothing is confirmed yet, but as we continue to investigate options that’s definitely something that’s being considered,” said Kim McCullough, marketing vice president of Jaguar Land Rover in North America.

McCullough also stated that JLR sees strong demand for diesel models in the U.S. because of the recent push by German luxury manufacturers. ”There’s a much greater acceptance for diesel in the U.S. market,” she said.evoque

Emissions standards are of great concern for us here at Land Rover Austin, and we are proud of the fact that our parent company is entertaining a variety of model and powertrain combinations for the future.

Should the diesel Evoque make the American cut and prove to be a hit among consumers, it could certainly pave the way for more like-powered Land Rover vehicles in the coming years.
