Land Rover Austin is celebrating the 21st anniversary of Land Rover’s introduction of the Autobiography edition, which has long been the pride and joy of the Range Rover lineup.
The Autobiography first debuted at the London motor show in 1993 and the following year offered customers the opportunity to choose from an extensive variety of colors, high-tech features and interior finishes. Demand was so high that Land Rover was prompted to adopt Autobiography as a limited edition version of its Range Rover, featuring the larger engine from the long-wheelbase LSE models and distinctive interior and exterior color-ways.
Throughout the years, Land Rover has made sure the Autobiography models remain at the cutting edge of technology. It was one of the first vehicles to adopt satellite navigation, television and video systems, and now boasts infotainment systems such as concert hall-quality audio and video packages and that would trump just about any vehicle on the road today.
The current Range Rover Autobiography Black, prepared by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations, is the ultimate in Range Rover luxury, thanks to features such as a full-length panoramic roof, seats with integrated climate control and massage functions, as well as the option of an executive twin rear-seat design that features an extended center console housing USB connection, a sophisticated entertainment system with independent 10.2-inch screens and electrically deploying leather-finished tables.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: “For 21 years, Autobiography has given our customers the chance to specify the most luxurious Range Rovers according to their tastes and desires. Within Special Vehicle Operations we are continuing this tradition. The latest Autobiography Black has greater levels of luxury and sophistication than ever before and even more opportunities for personalization.’
For over two decades the Autobiography has reigned as king of all SUVs, demonstrating the perfect combination of design and luxury. For those seeking to own this truly astonishing vehicle, we invite you to come see us at Land Rover Austin and one of our sales members will gladly get you on your way.
Land Rover has officially confirmed the world’s first premium compact SUV convertible will go on sale in 2016 by releasing a unique underground testing film.
Forty meters below the streets of London, the first prototype of Land Rover’s new Range Rover Evoque Convertible was granted exclusive access to the 26-mile network of Crossrail tunnels for a development test. Engineers were allowed the opportunity to drive the disguised Evoque Convertible with its roof lowered in complete privacy.
The short film begins with the highly-capable convertible being lowered into the tunnel network by crane, before negotiating a range of obstacles through the 6.2 meter diameter tunnel.
Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programs said: “The tunnels are still under construction, so we had a unique opportunity to explore the vehicle’s all-terrain ability in unchartered territory.”
Land Rover debuted the updated 2016 version of the popular Evoque at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show, and once the convertible hits the streets we are quite sure that heads will be turning across the globe in awe of this truly magnificent machine.
Official specs for the convertible have yet to be revealed, but Land Rover confirmed that it will be built alongside the five-door and coupe Evoque models at its plant in Halewood.
If you aren’t the type who enjoys the wind flowing through your doo, then we invite you to visit Land Rover Austin to take a peek at our vast lineup of hard-top Evoques and other Land Rover vehicles.
