Invictus Games Driving Challenge

The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 are in full swing! As the presenting partner for the games, Jaguar Land Rover kicked them off on Saturday, September 23 with the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge.

The Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge aimed to test teams of two from 13 different nations in an off-road and agility driving challenge. The teams competed as driver and navigator in two time-trials. They had to make sure their team-work, strategic skills, and communication were up to par while driving and navigating a Land Rover Discovery and Jaguar F-TYPE SVR.

The Jaguar F-TYPE SVR was driven during the agility challenge. For this trial, Jaguar Land Rover put together a challenging slalom course with ‘Jaguar Smart Cones.’ Teams had to navigate the continually changing and unpredictable course.

The Land Rover Discovery was driven during the off-road challenge. For this trial, teams had to navigate a challenging urban off-road course designed to test their driving and navigational skills.

In the end, the Netherlands took home the gold, Great Britain finished with the silver, and Denmark came in third.

“Once again we have watched the sheer dedication and commitment of these competitors in the Driving Challenge,” Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said. “We celebrate each and every one of them and everyone around them who played a part in their journey here today: friends, loved ones, family members, professionals. I know everyone at Jaguar Land Rover wishes each of them the very best of luck for the rest of the Games. Everyone is a winner here in Toronto.”

The medals were awarded by Prince Harry, who is the Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. The Invictus Games will continue to run through September 30.

Experience the Iconic Defender

Land Rover Austin is excited to announce that Land Rover will be launching a new Land Rover Experience Center Heritage Program. This program will focus on the legacy and history left by the Land Rover Defender. By participating in the program, you will be able to drive the Land Rover Defender at a few Land Rover Experience Centers in the United States.

Since the Land Rover Defender is no longer in production, the Defender Land Rover Experience Center Heritage Program will give Land Rover enthusiasts an opportunity to experience this iconic vehicle. Starting this month, the Defender Land Rover Experience Program will be available in Vermont, North Carolina, and California.

The Vermont program will be located at the Equinox Resort in Manchester, the North Carolina program will be located at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, and the California program will be located at Quail Lodge in Carmel. In addition to having the Defender program available, you could also choose to participate in a Discovery or Range Rover program.

As part of the Defender Land Rover Experience patrons will learn more about the vehicle’s rich heritage as well as drive it while off-roading. See for yourself just how well the Land Rover Defender holds up through water, mud, grass, and dips. But no worries! If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, a Land Rover Experience Instructor will be with you every step of the way.

“Recognized as one of our most iconic vehicles, the Defender has conquered some of the world’s most demanding terrain and we are thrilled to be bringing that experience to consumers through the Land Rover Experience Center Heritage Program,” Kim McCullough, Jaguar Land Rover North America Vice President of Marketing, said. “Brand loyalists and new fans alike now have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a piece of history and continue to celebrate this history Land Rover icon.”

Inaugural Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest

Land Rover Austin is excited about Jaguar Land Rover’s announcement this weekend at the Jaguar Land Rover’s inaugural Tech Fest (a free-to-enter festival exploring the future of mobility) in London! Jaguar Land Rover announced that from 2020, all new Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will be offered with an electrified/electric engine!

“Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers more choice,” Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer, said. “We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and mild hybrid vehicles. Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year.”

Jaguar Land Rover’s most recent movement towards the future in mobility is Sayer. Sayer is “the first voice activated A1 steering wheel that will be able to carry out hundreds of tasks.” Think Apple’s Siri, or Amazon’s Alexa, on steroids. Sayer’s advanced speech recognition software will enable it to answer questions, select entertainment, organize travel, and connect you to news.

Jaguar Land Rover believes that driving is more than just getting from one place to another. They believe its about living your life while traveling from one place to another to another.

Jaguar Land Rover showcased many of their recent undertakings at the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest.

Jaguar Land Rover began to recruit with Gorillaz through an online programming game, Jaguar Land Rover took steps to eliminating waste by using leftover materials to create surfboards, and Jaguar Land Rover continues to pursue driverless vehicles by creating Autonomous Urban Drive.

The Jaguar E-PACE, Jaguar’s compact performance SUV, was recently released to the public. Land Rover’s found a new use for the Discovery in ‘Project Hero,’ a souped up Discovery designed to specifically aid the Austrian Red Cross.

Finally, Jaguar Land Rover shared more about their ‘Lighting Up Lives’ program where they are working to provide ‘clean, safe, renewable solar-powered lamps to families in Kenya.’ They plan to light up the lives of at least 1.2 million people by the year 2020.

Tech Fest 2017 was a rousing success, and Land Rover Austin couldn’t be more proud. To find our more about Land Rover, contact us! We look forward to speaking with you soon!

Land Rover Unveils ‘Legacy Wall’

Land Rover Austin is proud of Jaguar Land Rover’s commitment to making a difference in the community around them. Recently, a ‘Legacy Wall’ was unveiled at Jaguar Land Rover’s Engine Manufacturing Center (EMC), near Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

The Legacy Wall was the idea of Jaguar Land Rover Machining Manager, Jon Stanley, and supports Midlands Air Ambulance, EMC’s official charity. Stanley initially got the idea for the Legacy Wall from a wall he saw at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“I was standing outside the Children’s Hospital, with my family, where the Midlands Air Ambulance helicopter landed nearby,” Stanley said. “As we were moved to accommodate the landing, we noticed a brick-built wall, inscribed with initials. It referred to a building fundraiser launched by the hospital in 1913. The public had contributed one guinea to sponsor a brick that is still evident today. It got me thinking about how we could sue the idea and I brought it back to the EMC to discuss with members of our People Committee and they loved it.”

The Legacy Wall was unveiled by 11-time gold medal winning equestrian Paralympian and Midlands Air Ambulance ambassador, Sir Lee Pearson. He received life-sating services firsthand when he had a riding accident.

The Legacy Wall is comprised of more than 250 brushed aluminum-style plaques that were each sponsored an EMC employee. The fundraiser raised more than $3,400 for Midlands Air Ambulance. Over the past two years, the EMC has contributed over $18,000 to Midlands Air Ambulance.

The Jaguar Land Rover EMC was officially opened in 2014 and is where Jaguar Land Rover’s “Ingenium family of low-emission turbo-charged Petrol and Diesel engines” are engineered, designed, and manufactured.

Jaguar Land Rover remains committed to their community and making a difference.
